An idle Waterpark Simulator worker is not automatically bugged. The employee may lack an assignment, access, a usable station, an active schedule, or matching work. Version 1.0 also adds Security Guards and Mascots, whose roles should be judged by their current in-game descriptions rather than by expectations from older staff types.
Diagnose one employee in a small operating area. The goal is to distinguish intended inactivity from a repeatable failure.
Identify the exact worker and role
Open the current staff interface and record the employee type, displayed assignment, status, and any warning. Use the live role name. Do not describe every employee as a vendor or cleaner.
State what work you expect: serving a station, cleaning a zone, repairing, providing security, performing as a mascot, or another role shown by the game. A clear expected action makes the test reproducible.
Check whether the worker was newly hired, previously functional, or affected after a patch or park reload.
Verify assignment and opening state
Select the employee and inspect the assignment through the current interface. Confirm the intended station, zone, or duty. If the game requires a separate confirmation, follow the live prompt and reopen the panel to verify that the assignment persisted.
Make sure the park and relevant service are operating. A worker may correctly wait when no guests, tasks, or station activity exist.
Do not hire a replacement until this state is visible. Two unassigned employees do not fix one missing configuration.
Walk the route yourself
Start where the employee stands and walk to the assigned destination. Look for disconnected paths, blocked entrances, deleted junctions, or decorative objects narrowing the route. Confirm that guests can also reach a service station when relevant.
If the destination moved during a layout change, remove and reapply the assignment using the present interface. Test in a simple nearby location before concluding that the role fails park-wide.
The layout guide explains how through-paths and queues can interfere with service access.
Create one matching task
Use normal operation to produce a clear job for the role. Open the station for a vendor, allow ordinary traffic through a cleaning zone, or observe the behavior CayPlay’s current description assigns to Security or Mascots.
Do not manufacture hazards, breakdowns, or disruptive guests simply to force a test. Wait for a legitimate event in a backed-up park and capture the worker’s response.
If the employee handles one task, note what differed from the idle period. The original behavior may have reflected no workload rather than a defect.
Check time, weather, and condition changes
Version 1.0 includes night operation, overtime, weather, and events. Record the current condition and whether the employee’s status changes when the operating period begins or ends.
The audit does not establish a universal shift schedule or weather modifier. Do not infer one from a single idle moment. Compare the same employee and assignment under a known active condition.
If the interface displays pay, schedule, or availability information, preserve its exact wording and version.
Reload without destroying evidence
Save and exit through the normal menu, then reload once. Verify whether the employee, assignment, and destination persist. If the issue began after co-op, record host and client roles and test the host’s solo reload.
Back up the park before dismissing staff, deleting stations, or rebuilding the zone. A destructive reset can remove the evidence and create new expense.
Do not edit save files or install a staff-fix mod as the first diagnostic.
Compare one simple controlled placement
In a disposable or backed-up park, assign the same role to a nearby accessible station or compact zone. If the simple placement works, the original layout or task context is the likely boundary. If both fail, the role or current build deserves closer investigation.
Change only location or assignment, not difficulty, staffing count, and park schedule simultaneously. Record the before-and-after status.
Use the staff management guide for hiring and workload decisions after the behavior is verified.
Report a repeatable staff bug
Include game version, difficulty, map, employee role, exact assignment, status text, path screenshots, expected task, observed behavior, and whether reload or simple relocation changed it. Say whether the park is solo or multiplayer.
Preserve the save and use CayPlay’s official support path. A report that says “vendor not working” is much weaker than a short sequence showing an assigned, reachable, open station with waiting guests and no response.
