Hire staff after you can name the work that is repeatedly being missed. Waterpark Simulator begins with the owner handling tickets, food, cleaning, repairs, and rescues, then allows staff to take over daily pressure as the park grows. A worker should have a defined duty, reachable work, and enough budget to remain useful.
Version 1.0 adds Security and Mascots. Security removes disruptive guests; Mascots move around the park to raise happiness and reduce boredom. Those roles do not replace cleaners, repair coverage, service work, or the owner’s response to immediate safety incidents.
Diagnose the duty before hiring
Walk the park during a busy period and record the first repeated interruption. Is trash or a puddle left too long? Does an attraction remain out of order? Is a service point waiting for an employee? Are disruptive guests passing admission? Are visitors bored between attractions?
One event does not necessarily justify payroll. Look for a pattern across the same zone or operating period. Hiring is strongest when it frees the owner from a recurring task and the cash reserve can support the ongoing cost.
Steam achievements confirm hiring a first staff member and reaching five staff, but they do not prescribe which role should be first or establish a current staff cap.
Give the employee a reachable job
After hiring through the current 1.0 interface, inspect any role or assignment controls the game displays. Use the live labels rather than an old video. Then verify that the workplace is open, accessible, and actually generating the duty you expect.
Trace the route between the worker and the task. A blocked path, distant expansion, closed service, or unreachable attraction can look like idle AI. Correct access before adding a duplicate employee.
Observe long enough for the intended work to occur. A worker who has no current task is different from a worker who ignores an accumulating valid task. Record the role, area, difficulty, and public version if you need to report a reproducible issue.
Match special staff to special problems
Security is a researched 1.0 staff type. CayPlay says Security handles bad or disruptive guests, and the Steam achievement list includes Order Restored for having Security kick out 50 disruptive guests. Use Security when that behavior is the diagnosed problem.
Mascots are guest-experience staff. CayPlay says they increase overall happiness and reduce boredom while moving around the park. Add a Mascot when core service works and boredom or atmosphere is the remaining gap. No exact effect radius or numerical bonus is claimed here.
Do not assign the wrong expectation. Security does not repair attractions; Mascots do not clean pools; additional service staff cannot fix a disconnected building.
Fix a vendor or employee who is not working
First check whether the employee has the intended role or assignment in the current UI. Next confirm that the workplace is open, connected, and not itself broken. Then look for a path from the employee’s current area to the work.
Check whether another worker already completed the task or whether demand is temporarily absent. For a food or ticket service, observe a guest approach. For cleaning or repairs, wait for a real eligible job instead of assuming the worker must constantly animate.
If valid work accumulates and the assigned employee remains inactive, save normally, reload only through the game’s supported controls, and reproduce the issue with the smallest clear setup. Avoid deleting saves, installing a mod, or changing several systems at once.
Use the Troubleshooting hub if the behavior persists. A useful report includes the public version, Windows/Steam scope, difficulty, save name, staff role, assignment, location, expected action, actual action, and a screenshot or short clip.
Control payroll as the park expands
Add one staff member, then observe the result through a full busy period. If response time improves and cash remains stable, the hire solved a real constraint. If the worker is idle or the same work queue persists, diagnose before hiring again.
Remote expansions can need local coverage because travel time grows. Build access and the service area before staffing it. A distant employee without reachable work is payroll without capacity.
Night operation deserves a separate check. CayPlay says employees cost extra when the optional night schedule is enabled. Confirm that the daytime park is stable and the reserve can fund the extension before keeping a larger roster late.
Staff questions
Who should I hire first?
Hire for the recurring duty that most often breaks the current park. There is no evidence-backed universal first role for every difficulty and layout.
Why is my employee idle?
Check role or assignment, workplace state, path access, current demand, and competing tasks. Only after those pass should you treat the behavior as a likely bug.
Are Security and Mascots released?
Yes. They are listed in the developer-authored 1.0 launch notes. Their exact costs, research requirements, and numerical effects should be read from the current build.
Should I hire several people at once?
Usually add one and measure the change. Several simultaneous hires hide which role helped and can create an unexpected payroll burden.
How do I report a staff problem?
Reproduce it without mods if possible, record the current version and role details, and use CayPlay’s Steam discussions or support contact. Do not send an entire personal folder publicly.
