Waterpark Simulator co-op has host controls for destructive and administrative actions. Do not rely on an older launch guide that says every permission must be enforced socially: post-launch patches added host settings and a lobby-scoped ban system, and version 1.0.50 extended the Ban button to the tablet.
The safest setup is still a disposable park or backed-up save. Permission controls reduce risk, but they do not document every inventory, quest, achievement, or persistence rule.
Host controls confirmed by official updates
Version 1.0.21–1.0.31 added or corrected host permission settings for:
- using the ticket booth;
- building;
- destroying objects;
- hiring staff;
- opening the park;
- using painting-related actions;
- accessing Caymart-related settings.
The wording and grouping in the live menu can change. Open the host settings in 1.0.50 and read every toggle before inviting an unknown player. If a control is absent, record the current version and whether the lobby was newly created after updating.
These settings do not prove that every action is covered. Major spending, Mafia decisions, Museum research, save ownership, client achievements, and host migration still need separate testing.
A safe permission preset for a valuable park
For a first session on an established park, start conservatively:
- Keep destruction disabled for guests.
- Restrict building until each player has joined the correct save.
- Restrict hiring and park-open controls to prevent accidental operating costs.
- Limit ticket-booth and shop settings unless a player is assigned to management.
- Test painting behavior on a disposable object; the spray can itself is officially disabled in multiplayer.
- Enable one permission at a time as the group’s role plan requires it.
This is a recommended operating method, not a claim that the game ships with a preset using these values. Take a screenshot of the chosen settings so the host can restore them if they change between sessions.
Test what a client can actually do
Ask a client to perform one low-risk action per enabled permission. Place an inexpensive object, move it if allowed, interact with the ticket booth, and verify that an intentionally disabled destructive action is blocked. Save normally and have the host reload before assuming the result persists.
Version 1.0.48 fixed multiplayer behavior so all players can move pools with water blobs. That is a useful reminder that a working host action does not prove client behavior. When a permission seems broken, state whether the affected player was the host or a client.
Do not test destructive access next to a unique Museum build or on the only copy of a completion park. Use a small marked test area.
Use the Ban button correctly
Version 1.0.43 introduced lobby bans and later fixes made the control available on the tablet in version 1.0.50. A ban is lobby-scoped. Official notes explicitly say the ban is not permanent across all future lobbies.
If a player must be removed, use the current lobby or tablet control, then verify that they leave the active session. For a future session, review the lobby list and permissions again. Do not promise a global account block based on this game control; use Steam’s platform-level tools separately when appropriate.
Record evidence of serious disruption before removing a stranger, especially if a bug might look like malicious behavior. Do not publish account identifiers or private voice recordings.
Friends-only lobby safeguards
CayPlay patched attempts to spoof a friend’s Steam identity in friends-only lobbies in 1.0.48, then improved the protection again in 1.0.50. Keep the game on the current public branch before treating friends-only as a boundary.
This does not turn a friends-only lobby into a substitute for cautious permissions. A compromised or accidentally invited account could still receive whatever actions the host enables. Confirm the lobby privacy, inspect the joined player list, and keep destructive controls restricted on a valuable park.
If an unexpected player appears, capture the lobby state, semantic version, time, and host account context privately and report it through CayPlay’s support route. Avoid speculative public accusations.
What remains undocumented
Current official patch notes do not fully specify:
- whether each quest decision is host-only;
- which player receives item or Museum progress;
- whether every Steam achievement condition credits clients;
- who owns or can load the park after the session;
- whether a client inventory persists between hosts;
- whether host migration occurs when the host disconnects;
- cross-play, cross-save, dedicated servers, or split screen.
Use a backed-up test park for any of these questions. Record both Steam profiles, roles, action, save/reload result, and version. A single successful action is evidence for that action, not for the whole system.
Permission troubleshooting
If a client cannot act, first check the corresponding host toggle. Then confirm the player joined after the host created the current lobby, the session runs 1.0.50, and the object is valid for the action. Recreate the lobby once after changing settings.
If a supposedly disabled action still works, stop the session before further testing. Preserve the save and screenshot the host setting alongside the client result. Report the shortest reproduction rather than cycling every toggle.

Permission answers
Can the host stop clients from building or destroying?
Official post-launch notes list host settings for building and destroying, along with ticket-booth, hiring, park-open, painting, and Caymart controls.
Is a player ban permanent?
No. CayPlay describes the in-game ban as applying to the current lobby rather than every future lobby.
Where is the Ban button?
Version 1.0.50 makes it available on the tablet as well as the lobby control surface.
Is friends-only now completely risk-free?
No. Spoofing protections were improved in 1.0.48 and 1.0.50, but hosts should still verify players and restrict destructive permissions on important saves.
